Drew Shofner (email) Senior Pastor
My name is Drew and I get to be the lead pastor here. I am blessed with a beautiful wife named Marcia, a delightful daughter named Hannah, and with the gift of a son named Joey. My life’s work is to help people live loving God by following Jesus in a profoundly relational way.
I started being a disciple in 1977. Jesus became the only thing that really made sense in the world, and the only one who really made sense of the world. I felt my fair share of the dark as a child, and as a teenager the light of Jesus proved an irresistible attraction. In Jesus, I see an incredible hope that never ends….
Earl Gray (mail) Connection Pastor Earl joined our staff in October of 2009 as Connection Pastor. With his years of experience, his desire to journey daily with Jesus, and his ability to relationally connect with those of all ages, Earl is a tremendous asset to the team. Donnie Hatcher (email) Children’s Pastor Donnie is married to his lovely wife, Renee. Donnie and Renee both grew up in Mobile, AL. They have been married for 12 years and have two daughters, Brooklyn and Karis. Donnie felt a call to ministry as a teenager and has served in ministry for 15 years in the areas of Student Ministry, Children’s Ministry, and as a Discipleship Pastor. Donnie completed his undergrad at the University of Mobile in Mobile, AL and earned his Masters degree at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX.
Nathan Stanley (email) Student Pastor Nathan is our newest staff pastor, joining our staff in May 2010. Nathan is married to his wife, Rachel, (we are so glad he is married to his wife) and they have 4 children. Nathan loves books, he says they make him look smart. Sometimes he reads them too.
Gwen Hubbard (email) Sharing Minister Gwen was born in Virginia, but has lived most of her life in Maryland. She has been a member here at Severn Run for over 25 years. She has two sons, Reggie and Erik. In her free time she likes going to the beach in the fall and to the mountains in the summer. She likes to travel and has always wanted to go to Hawaii or Australia. One of her favorite Bible verses is James 1:2-4.
Brenda Bailey (email) Administrative Assistant Brenda has been a part of Severn Run for seven years. She is married to her wonderful husband, John for 25 years and has two beautiful children, Ray and Sue. Prior to Severn Run she has served on staff at two other churches. Her favorite vacation is when she is on the beach relaxing with her family and a good book or attending a NASCAR race (Boogity, Boogity, let’s go racing boys!!). Brenda has lived in Ohio, upstate New York, Chicago, IL, and Ft. Knox, KY. Most of all, it is her desire to allow Christ to be LORD of her life, the center of who she is and all she does.
Linda Meade (email) Office Manager Linda was born in Severn, MD and has been a part of our church since she was a child. (Her parents started the church in their home.) She has served as our Church Secretary/Office Manager since July 1968. Linda is single and has a brother, George, and a sister, Nancy, who are also members of Severn. Linda enjoys reading, genealogy, and doing counted cross stitch.
Vickie Kent (email) Bookkeeper Vickie joined the staff as the part-time bookkeeper in 2009. Bringing over 20 years of experience working with not-for-profit organizations, she serves with other members of the Stewardship team in the financial record keeping of the church. Native Marylanders, Vickie and her husband David have two grown children. Together they enjoy riding motorcycles, watching movies and spending time with family and friends. Vickie has been an active member at the Church of Severn Run since 1989. Currently serving on the Contact Team, Vickie has a passion for helping guests and new members get connected to the body of Christ and assimilated into church life.
Susan Kitchin (email) Pre-School MinisterI am the mother of four grown children and the grandmother of two. One of my favorite things in life is enjoying my children. Their laughter is a touch of heaven! I believe loving children well, helping them know Jesus as their forever friend, are the foundations every child needs to mature and follow Jesus through life. I have worked in children’s ministries for 30 years, serving in different capacities and I know the love and support a family receives at church has a huge impact on a child’s life, but a parent’s influence is greater! Helping parents embrace their role as the spiritual leaders of their children is my hearts desire. Serving as Preschool Minister is a blessing to me. Nothing compares to being loved by a child!
